Storm King's Death Equation (Real everything :P)

Hey all,

This is my take on the Storm King song posted in the songs to mix thread. It's also my first mix with all real instrument tracks to start with. I can say it was a LOT more fun/fulfilling to do than amp sims like I always do and drum samples. Learning to cope with mic bleed and snare replacing was very interesting. I still used the X30 plugin in this mix, but just a tad to give the guitars more sizzle.

The one big problem I had though was the toms. Any tips on what to do with them?

Any comments VERY appreciated as always.

Amazing how much more fun stuff is when its through a mic.

The guitars don't seem to cut through too well and I do not hear the bass guitar at all. Are you replacing the toms at all?

Yeah I'm having troubles with the bass. I'll see what I can do.

Toms aren't replaced at all. I guess I should get around to doing that, but I still have to figure out how that Audiosnap thing works in Sonar. I guess I should blend just a bit of samples for more click.

Changed the bass, tried a bit of mastering as well. I tried to replace the toms sample, but in the end I couldn't get the timing right, and they just wouldn't sit in the mix. I guess I'll have to spend more time on that, but in this case, I think the stock toms fit in pretty well.
