CARCASS haven't lived in vain, they have inspired heaps of bands that again have inspired countless bands again... and the tale of the wicked continues. This Belgian horde STRANGE FACTS IN THE SCALPEL CASE can be traced back to the masters of horror and gore, though have incorporated other healthy aspects into their blood dripping and ghastly Death Metal. The mini album is dark and wicked, and doesn't catch on at first, at least not for me, though after a good deal of listens the darkness prevails and the music becomes interesting, as the band does play on many facets. It is not the most original songwriting ever made, there are multiple traces back to old giants within Death Metal of horror and gore and a tad of melodic and cold Black Metal riffing here and there. Overall the material possess a dark and eerie atmosphere, that in the right setting works out really well, their universe of horror is created well, and the musical settings together with the rather puked growl and various screams do add to the overall atmosphere. I've been sucked into this vortex of sickness, and with what STRANGE FACTS IN THE SCALPEL CASE has made with "Unearthed" I'm sure we'll soon see a gore-laced full length of even more madness. I've been convinced and I'm sure Killjoy will approve of this music as well. Get into the grave:
"...the music opened up and let me into the obscure and wicked universe of STRANGE FACTS IN THE SCALPEL CASE and gave me a roller coaster ride Im not likely to forget. The dark and atmospheric Death Metal contains a lot of twists and breaks, dark seances and utter horrifying moments."

We have finished the recording of two new tracks appearing on the upcoming MONOLITH single. These tracks will be available as a digital download and as a promo single at one of our upcoming gigs.
The splendid artwork for this release has been conjured up by Dark Descent Records' finest cover-artist: ERIC MUSALL. Keep an eye on our official webcoffin (www.strangefactsinthescalpelcase.com) for more info.
This promo-single contains material written outside the realm of our usual concept. It represents two tracks which will appear on our yet to be released full-cd, which are head-on Lovecraftian in style.
The 'MONOLITH' cardboard promo-single is still available directly from the band. The first 50 copies went fast as posers on a ManowaR-gig but... we've got an extra pile hidden away at the bottom of our caskets. Ask for it at gigs, or drop us an e-mail and we'll be glad to hand out this neat CRYPTIC CAVERNS release!
