Umm. Devin Townsend is so damn strange. This song is so.. 'core' yet.. punk.. and hmm. I almost feel weird saying I liked it a lot.

All hail Hevy Devy. A perfect example of what SYL is all about. Extreme. The beast to balance the beauty that is the rest of his endeavors. Hoglan sounds like a fucking madman in this song. I can't wait to hear the rest of this album. "Howdy! Welcome to A&W! my name's Devin; Can I take your stinking order?" Cheers!

I drove by an A&W today and instantly thought of Devy and that quote. :D

New SYL.....life is good. If we ever had to clear the venue at ProgPower, Glenn could get SYL to play. Most folks would panic and leave, WE would get a great show, and Glenn could have dinner with one of the five people he most wanted to dine with.

I took out "Synchestra" the other day for a long drive, and damn, if that isn't a fine album. When I first got it I gave it a couple spins and put it away, but...damn, it's just good! That drummer he has is excellent (Ryan van Poedeshoeren or whatever).

...Anyway, a new SYL is great news in my book. Did anyone catch them on the Sounds of the Underground tour? How were they?

NP: Transatlantic "SMPTe"

The lyrics are kind of amusing and delivered as only he can, but I've never got into SYL anywhere near as heavily as the solo albums, and this isn't going to change that. Sounds great when you're pissed, but Devy's true creativity is on Terria & Synchestra & so forth...

Gene Hoglan. The Mountain That Plays.

Not only were SYL great on the SOTU tour, but we got two, two, two Genes in one, since he filled in on drums for Opeth. Astonishing work and he's always amazingly humble about his abilities; truly a nice guy.
