It seems like they changed a few notes here and there and still made a pretty good job of it. If you enjoy covers by the way I'd check the whole album out. Called The Covering oddly enough! Michael Sweet's voice sounds very good in this though he seems to be singing at the edge of his powers but he still sounds very good IMO.

Heard the one new track "God" on the metal madman's show last night and it's unbelievablely good. Stryper hasn't sounded this good in years. Bring on a new album!
Also, everything I have heard off this CD is very professionally done and is not just a hack job of covers...it delivers.

So far, from what I've heard, the covers album is going to be a fun listen, much like Jorn's Dio. The last two Stryper albums have been average at best imo. With that said, maybe re-visiting these old cover tunes will get them focused on actually putting out a good "metal" album. There's no question that they have the talent, if only they will.

Considering the post-reunion output (which isn't really bad, just not awesome), the covers I've heard so far from The Covering sound really good! I remember hearing from a buddy about when they covered "On Fire" during the Against The Law tour...people (presumably Christians in the audience) were booing them...Michael had to tell the crowd "Hey, don't boo...without Van Halen we would not be here..."
