I got recommended Avia's latest album "I See That Now" the other day and was shocked at how good it all was. I DL'd Röyksopp's "Melody A.M." this evening and I'm quite enjoying it.

I've seen this stuff described as Down Beat on Discogs.com and would love it if anyone could recommend me some more artists to check out.

Cheers.

Yeah I didnt want to bother to get that damned micro symbol in there.

Also try some Lemon Jelly- its rather pedestrian, but enjoyable none the less.

Massive Attack of course.

I really love animal magic by bonobo, Richest man in babylon, and Mirror Conspiracy by Thievery Corporation, Lost Horizons by Lemon Jelly.

I really like Royksopp and Thievery Corporation the best they are the cream of th downtempo crop. \

What bands do you know? You have some knowledge of this subject, and god knows anyone with a computer and a little musical talent can put together a decent downtempo album.

Very little actually. I've been spending a lot of time downloading as much non-metal stuff as i could before i got so ill all i could do was lay in bed. I got recommended the Avia album and was like "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!" when i first heard it and i had heard of Röyksopp but never any music so i DL'd Melody A.M and quite enjoyed it. I knew of Nightmares On Wax back when i tried to find out more decent Trip Hop artist/bands to check out on another site.

I'd know more if i found it easy finding out more artists/bands to check out.

I've thought of buying/downloading some chill out albums but i dunno which ones to check into as there fuckin loads of them around! You know if this is a good way of furthering my enjoyment of the genre?

Aphex Twin and Squarepusher downbeat :guh: LTJ Bukem ain't either. His older stuff is Jungle and his newer stuff is Jazzy DnB. Never heard of the other but i'll check them out either way.

Flu. It was fuckin evil, I'm just recovering from it so all i have to put up with is a head cold and cough. Saturday and Sunday were the worth I've ever felt, even with Chelsea going top it didn't cheer me up!

Other music in the "downbeat" category is for example:

Kruder & Dorfmeister (their K&D sessions 2cd remixes is really superb!!) - Tosca (this is Dorfmeister with a friend; check out CD Suzuki or Chocolate Elvis remixes) - Peace Orchestra (this is Kruder; check out the selftitled debut) - Lamb - Smith & Mighty (funky and soulful D&B from Bristol) - Truby Trio (their new CD Elevator Music)
