Back in my schooling days i had a little bag where i kept all my little guitar bits and pieces.... spare strings, tuner, spare batteries, whammy bar, alan keys, lots of pics, etc, etc..... and after playing a concert one day in the music room at our school i mustve forgotten to pick that little bag up, and never found it again....so someone obviously helped themselves to it. I mean its not as major as what happened to you warsofwinter, but chromatic tuners arent cheap, and all those strings and stuff add up quite a bit for little me with no job back then. Plus the whammy bar i was really pissed about because i figured it would be a real hassle to replace, but a few weeks later i went into this 2nd hand music store we have and asked if they have any whammy bars, and sure enough theres the exact whammy bar that fits my guitar, im sure it mustve been mine coz my whammy is a bit weird, so someone bothered to fucking sell the thing, they probably only got $2 for it or something anyway.
I also used to leave my guitar at school quite often, and in fact i had my good old classical guitar permanantely at school..... and the ammount of times i walked into the music room to see someone else playing my guitar (and yes they knew it was mine).. well i mean its fine if they ask, but if people dont ask permission then they dont take responsibility when they fuck something up, i mean i was constantly replacing broken strings on that classical and i barely got to use the thing.
It just seems that people are inclined to take advantage of 'opportunities' without any consideration for the people they are taking advantage of. And sadly, from your story warsofwinter, it seems they dont stop at the comparitevely little things i mention either.
