hey there,

so i pulled the trigger on the special pod farm (platinum) deal over at thomann.
i have been dealing with thomann for a long time now, with ZERO issues. so far.

well, stuff arrives, everything's fine etc. installed the software, went over to line6/ilok to activate it and, BAM.
my activation code is not valid. line 6 activation center reports that the code has already been redeemed...well, i didn't do it, that's for sure. i obviously triple checked for typos etc, but there were none. and as you will know, without a valid code the whole thing is utterly useless.

so, i wonder how this is possible?? after all i didn't buy it from some dude i know or sth, but from a big music store, brand new and sealed. at first i thought my copy might have been returned by somebody else, but looking at thomann's return policy this can't really be the case. you can only return software if it's still sealed.

anyways, i wrote thomann about the issue...i'm very curious what they're going to say.
anyone has an idea what might have happened here???

prob just a glitch in the system, I'd email line 6 with serial number and copy of receipt, explain whats happened and I'm sure they'll sort it, these companies are usually very cool with legit buyers.

Someone's cracked copy and Key gen may have generated your serial number, the person used it.

Actually happened to me at the day job. Spent thousands on a copy of Adobe CS4 FROM ADOBE, installed went to register and "this serial number has already been registered on another machine".

Do what Sneap says and hopefully it all gets sorted.

ok, first of all, thank you mr sneap for chiming in here :)

anyways, here's an update.

contacted line 6 about it, they said there's nothing they can do, and i shall contact thomann so they can deliver me another copy.

things got interesting when i called thomann support, though.
apparently, this is a KNOWN ISSUE with line 6. there have been quite a lot of pod farm platinum (he said it didn't happen with the regular one) buyers who received invalid activation codes. this is probably due to line 6 using the same numbers twice or more, likely because of a system error.
unfortunately, thomann can't just generate a new activation code (well, obviously), so it all comes down to line 6 getting their shit together.
thomann is currently working on things with line 6 (as they won't try to get it sorted out with the individual customers - how's that for a customer service, mh?), but he told me that there is a number of similar cases, and line 6 hasn't got back to thomann about any of those (yet?).

so it basically boils down to either receiving a new activation code from line 6, or having them unlock the existing codes. technically you could also return your copy, buy another one, and hope it's a working one this time around.

personally, i guess i'll be waiting until the end of this week. if there's no reaction from line 6 by then i'll return it and steer clear of line 6 products in the future.

edit: so, in short words: BE AWARE that when purchasing a copy of POD FARM PLATINUM, chances are you will receive an INVALID ACTIVATION CODE. this a KNOWN ISSUE with line 6, but they're not exactly bending over backwards trying to solve it!

I had a problem like that with my Amplitube Metal, or was it the Ampeg? Well anyway Ik gave me a new activation code immediately. No problem there. Its obvious they dont take any responsibility here, line6. A company that dont seem to care about their customers should be avoided no matter what they sell. And if there will be more troubles you know you wont get much more help from them. You wouldnt buy a car again from the same seller that sold you a bad car last time, would you? There are other ampsims to buy. If you return it, and can afford, it I can recommend the new Amplitube3. I used to have a line6 product, a UX2 and they spammed me at least every week wanting me to upgrade to their model packs I allready had. Really annoying.

As i stated in another thread, line6 are plain assholes. My license is "expired" and i don't get a new one, because no one will answer in the thread and you cannot email them with technical problems / questions.

But you should send it back to thomann.

Well, I'm glad they gave me my Podfarm for free. I've been using it for bass and I no longer think all their products suck ass, just MOST of them.

I'm probably never going to buy anything from them.

Well, I admit I am really pissed off since I discovered they (Line6) have not relesed windows 7 x64 fully compatible drivers yet, there are only beta drivers that are giving me lots of problems.

I mean Jesus christ, microsoft released Seven almost a year ago, and is fully available for sale since months. Line 6 still have not figured out to write stable drivers.

I'm seriously thinking about switching to other companies.

Small update on my end:

line 6 is finally working on the issue, and apparently their support team is currently in contact with line 6 US and got me a new code. that was last friday, though (hence i didn't return it on friday like i originally planned).
anyways, i just wrote them a mail that i'll definitely return it if i don't have a working piece of software by the end of tomorrow.

well, at least they're working on the issue....apparently.

I don't think its been cracked...yet

So that shouldn't be the problem.

Thats good that they seem to be actually doing something to help you with it dude.

alright, update time!

seems like they finally got their shit together. they just sent me a valid license, so that big problem is officially SOLVED.

unfortunately, while i can open pod farm in reaper, i'm not getting any sound whatsoever.....damn. any idea why this might be????

edit: nevermind. apparently this is a known issue with pod farm (once again....), and a software update (how could i even dare thinking that i got the newest version with my purchase....) will solve it....likely. i'll report back.

know what, the damn thing better be worth all the trouble!

edit 2: alright, update 1.11 is up and running smoothly. quite interesting to think that they released a version that doesn't play on many systems, but oh well....
anyways, it's sounding great. the dual tone thing is pretty awesome ;)

i remember a time when i bought battery by native instruments, and apparently it was released with the company knowing that you couldn't trigger more than one sample at the same time...sorta puts a dent in the whole drum sample plugin vibe doesn't it? took em 3 months to correct it. i know that we have it better than anyone has ever had it in terms of availability and price, but jesus...at least make sure it works for the most part before you sell it.
