Ha ha, I love it when people take offence to everything I say! It makes for an enjoyable day, for those who would like to know, I AM a "Heavy Metal Musician." And I like any REAL music, later in this post I will list the bands I listen to. Getting back to what i wanted to say, you guys fail to see that Sum 41 pander and lick MTV's boots and make POP music, well if I wanted to listen to catchy pop songs and jump around like a bunny, I would, I tend to listen to music with a little more meaning than that, all these songs about "my girl" and " My girlfriend" or "She don't like me" are very immature and even if I was BACK in High School I wouldn't liten to such brainless drivel.

Moving along, like most of you I am a maniac about what I listen to, to me music isn't just background music, it is the focus of my life and has been for a very long time, these bands just don't hold water when compared to other bands, and I will admit, i can't stand a lot of metal, Black Metal is to me very pompous and exclusionary,and although Death is THE BAND, a lot of death metal is to me, laughable.

Sum 41 is cool. Now, people talk about how noone does solo's anymore, and definitely not anything main stream or nu-metal. Well, Sum 41 does have solo's. I was shocked when I heard one on a punk rock song of theirs and was like, "oh, the metal purists won't like this at all."
Well, I actually heard on the radio, I think an interview w/ them or something and they said that their next album would be a metal album. Pure metal. They said they didn't want to just play the same shit over and over again and that the best step for them musically is to play metal.
Now, I don't own their album, but their song is catchy and isn't really similiar to alot out there. I think they're just fine. And now knowing that they like Anthrax, maybe I'll go out and support their album too and give it a fair listen. And hopefully they'll be true to their word and make a metal album.

When I first read this post, I thought I would say "get off of Anthrax's NUTS" We seem to get alot of backlash about anyone with an opinion here. However, this thread seemed kind of intelligent. Take sum41 for what they are.....a bunch of PUNKS trying to have a good time. That's what I'm all about. As much as Anthrax is, they seem to have a really good time doing what they are doing.......which makes it REAL to me. I love Anthrax and I love Sum41..................Horns UP bitches!!!!!!!!!!!!
