My sister and I were big fans of the late 80's hair days, however we never made it out to L.A. when it was big. She is making a trip to Vegas next month and was wondering what clubs were still out there and if it would be worth it to drive. I know the Whiskey is still around, any advice? Thanks, Ron

hmm...Go to the Rainbow Bar and Grill. Eat and drink downstairs and drink and dance upstairs. If you love the 80's this is a must..It is the ultimate rock haven that has not changed since back in the day. Plus if you are lucky LEMMY might be there playing video games. Call for reservations and make the most of the night..Drinks are strong so becareful.:kickass::Puke:

Las vegas is not the Sunset Strip, that is Hollywood in LA.

oh I should mention you don't need reservations for The Rainbow but if you go on the weekends, there is a wait for a table. Otherwise hang out at the one of the three bars. Metal Skool is great for Mondays.

The Rainbow, Troubadour, Whisky, Viper Room, and House of Blues were all a blast when we were out there.

On a totally different chord, I was quite impressed with Bar Sinister when I was in L.A. for the Oscars a few years ago. A friends' band (The Last Dance) played there and it was packed. I was very impressed by the laid-back attitude...for a goth club, anyway. :)

*reminder- The Rainbow Bar & Grill opened in Las Vegas this year. There also is a HOB there.

Other clubs in Los Angeles, the Troubador, The Cat Club, Club Lingerie and Paladino's in the valley. Just pick up an LA weekly and it will list all clubs and shows.

If you can't find the free paper THE LA WEEKLY, they have a website.

Key Club, Whiskey, HOB, Viper Room, Knitting Factory, The Troub

Back in the Day, Wolfe and Rissmiller's Country Club in Reseda had a lot of hot shows! I hear it's a church now hehe!

There was also a great place in North Hollywood on Victory Blvd. that we used to go to a lot, I can't remember the name though...

RJ - as a local boy, I'd say everyone else on the thread has named the best places.....depending on when you are here, Blind Guardian is this Saturday at AVALON (Sunset & Vine in Hollywood) and Paul Stanley will be at the HOB Sunset (in West Hollywood) on Tuesday the 14th - both are gonna be great shows and will give you ample opportunity to hang around "The Strip". However, be forewarned - its quite a different vibe nowadays....

The club was FM STATION or FILTHY MCNASTY'S. aka the Rainbow of the Valley (especially the litte room in the back). Good place
