surf metal

This probably isn't anything like what you're talking about, but a while back my fiancee and I made a cover of Miserlou for my dad's birthday. It's kinda weird and wacky because we hammered it out in like 2 hours I think, and theres a weird text-to-speech introduction thing, but it was fun to make. It should be noted that my Dad is a surfer and loves metal and Pulp Fiction. Sorry if its way off topic. I just saw "Surf Metal" and couldn't help but be reminded of this.

Metal Miserlou

A song isnt "surf-metal" just because its called something with surf. ;)

Also, i really cant hear what similarities you find between real surf music and Satriani, or between Satriani and that In Flames song? o,0

If there is some similarity i may find, its that the lead lines in Satriani & In Flames songs both sounds like something that was written by singing the line, and then playing it on the guitar.. which is pretty much how all decent melody lines are written.
