Those are the ones I will be interested in. Of course I'm not going and I hate you because I know you will :p

Lighten up Wyv, there's about 2% chance I'll be making it to Sweden Rock. :)
Traditionally some of the artist in SR also play the Sauna Open Air here in Finland the same weekend so that's a more likely option for me. I doubt Riot's one of those artists though and they're the #1 announcement so far IMO (with Black Sabbath of course).

Damn you also have a festival in Finland?, I really hate Europe

Past years I haven't visited any large metal festivals anymore... I just ain't fanatic enough anymore to drive a long distance, spend a few days in possible bad weather, have to walk to and from the car for miles, listen to shitty bands on the bill, enormous crowds....No, I'm rather a pussy these days, I enjoy club shows and smaller festivals like KIT or HOA much more now...

That quote is highly interesting to me because it reflects how dimensions are measured different depending on your environment and experience. Like you I have became a sissy too, I'm not confortable in crowded places, with high volume music, not even local concerts anymore: smoke, crowds, bad view of the stage, etc. So you look at KIT and say that's a small festival, to me that's huge! I'm not sure I'll be confortable even at something like that, I think damn I finally had a good spot and now I have to endure three bands I don't give a damn just to wait for the one I really like, and if I exit to pee or look for a beverage kiss the good spot goodbye.

Frankly I rather spend all my money in an album that will last forever than attend a gig whose memory will fade in 2-3 months. So is a conundrum, a part of me dies to see my hero bands play live up in front of me, and another just want to stay home, cozy and listening the music at a sensible volume.

New bands:

FLOGGING MOLLY (US)
JON OLIVA'S PAIN (US)
KAMELOT (US)
DEMON (UK)
VOIVOD (CAN)
THOR (CAN)
IMPELLITTERI (US)
GRAND MAGUS (S)
TRACENINE (CAN)

Looks really good. Seriously considering ordering a ticket, I have a feeling this is as close as some of these bands will ever come...

I´ll be there.

Looking forward to:

HEAVEN AND HELL
URIAH HEEP
ZZ TOP
RIOT
FORBIDDEN
MOTÖRHEAD
DEMON
TORCH
ENFORCER

and I´m sure there´ll be some more good bands

New bands:

DEMON (UK)
GRAND MAGUS (S)

I know it´s not the Demon I have the albums, but may have a neat set live. As for Grand Magus it's one of the most interesting bands lately, I have "Wolf's Blood" and "Iron Will" and both are really powerful albums, I bet it's a great band live.

To be honest i think this must be the worst lineup SRF has ever had. Me and my friends talked about the lineup and the only band everyone wants to see is Black Sabbath(i'm not calling them HH). So ok, Motörhead is a sweet band but i've seen them two times already, both at SRF! We'll probably be visiting some foreign festival instead this summer.

You didn't like Prog-Power USA ? THat is a great venue and you can see fairly well in almost any place.

PPUSA is indeed the exception to all I've seen, but there I have the problem that I like 2-3 bands at the most from the whole bill (not to mention Glen stupid digital camera rule). The European festivals have maybe easily 5-10 bands I want to listen to, but it's much too large, to far and too expensive for me.

In a nutshell, I'm screwed

If I could attend only one festival this year, that would be Sweden Rock.

I'd love to see these bands I never saw live :

TORCH, DEMON, IMPELLITTERI, VOLBEAT, URIAH HEEP, EUROP, RIOT, JON OLIVA'S PAIN, GRAND MAGUS and some others of course like HEAVEN & HELL.

But I'm too far to go...

Some new bands confirmed:

IMMORTAL (N)
PAIN (S)
BLAZE BAYLEY (UK)
HELSTAR (US)
HYSTERICA (S)

Good stuff. Blaze and Helstar in particular, don't care for the first two really and the last one I've never heard of...

Candlemass, Ripper Owens etc confirmed. Hope they'll be on the first days of the festival because it seems like most of the must-see bands are piling up on Saturday which will probably result in some nasty overlaps... oh well. I guess there are worse things in life.
