Sybreed - man how could I miss such beauty...

I'm reviving this thread because I just bought Antares last night. I got their earlier album about a year ago and I love both CD's. I also love how apparent the singer's accent is. In my opinion they have the perfect blend of synths and metal. It's so atmospheric. I'm finding fewer and fewer cd's that sort of "take me somewhere else" when I listen to them, like theres a hidden element besides just music, but this one has that transportation effect I'm always looking for.

It's also interesting to note how natural the drums sound for such an "electronic" album. I'm also loving the apparent fact (from what I've read) that the guitars are all Podxt! I'm still trying to find more evidence to back it up, but damn, they did a good job with that. I love the tone. Maybe there's a bit more quality to be squeezed from my pod yet! Maybe I can wait a bit longer on purchasing a real amp.

Antares is on a heavy rotation on my ipod lately, awesome stuff, almost as good as Holographic Universe, maybe even better :) That stuff gave me load of inspiration, I even started to write some synth parts in my songs :headbang:

They are working on a new cd as we speak, definitely one of the great band-finds as of recent as they kick ass, and yes they recorded the albums with a pod, and Drop's(guitar player/composer) computer in a home studio. I think they are endorsed by VHT now so maybe their next cd they will use one

Haha, well we'll see what their engineer has to say about that ;) (how many bands have you seen endorsed by Krank, for example, that are all Recto and/or 5150 on their albums?)

Yeah, Antares is awesome, and Orbital gives me the chills every time i hear it. Some of their stuff bugs me though because they can tread dangerously close to the Meshuggah polyrhythmic trend or perhaps even closer to Sol Niger Within from Fredrik Thordendal. Meshuggah (pre-Nothing) is still my very favorite band around and I can't stand to hear bands blatantly stealing their sound. There will only be one Meshuggah in my book for as long as I live, plus I don't want there to be so many bands like them that the style just becomes a bad cliche' like power ballads in the 80s. I still respect Sybreed a great deal though and they've got plenty of other creative work in their discography that will keep me begging for more.

ha, i just spun Antares earlier today as i cleaned my mix room.... great album, killer band. i shall now STRONGLY suggest that all of you check out their labelmates Textures new album, Silhouettes.

ps. regarding Sybreed's "Antares"... it's out in the US and available at most Best Buys, FYE's, etc... and it has one bonus track that was not on the original European release.

Sybreed is fucking beast.... Im MAD drunk.... "Textures is beast too.... get all of it.

Textures' Drawing Circles is also a fantastic piece.

Yes!! Sybreed, probably my favorite fresh newer generation bands right now, electronics all the way, robotic voices, the slight french accent of the lead singer, tight rhytms, catchy grooves and choruses.. god i love this band... Shane hooked me on them since i opened up a thread asking for industrial/electro metal music out there.

Allthough i think Slave Design is epic (machine gun messiah and Bioactive!) but antares shows their growth and maturity now.. Neurodrive takes me to to a higher level, LOVE that song!
