along the lines of
old in flames
dark tranquility
children of bodom
kalmah

always opent to new metal experiences, something that i may like according to listed bands. rec's greatly appreciated

I fail to see how any of those are symphonic. I know DT uses some keyboards, but not enough to warrant that tag.

If you want real Symphonic Black Metal, check out:

Emperor
Limbonic Art
Bishop of Hexen
Arcturus
Anorexia Nervosa
Covenant
Dimmu Borgir
Nokturnal Mortum
Obsidian Gate
Old Man's Child
Sethery
Summoning
Tartaros
Vesania

Great list...

I would also add:

Vesperian Sorrow
Dragonlord (Yes it's more leaning on Thrash Metal, but still pretty good.)

Some good symphonic death:
Dekadent (symphonic death/doom)
Septic Flesh (symphonic death)
Hollenthon (really good symphonic death/extreme metal)

And more symphonic black:
In Lingua Mortua
Hellveto ("orchestral pagan metal")
Profanum
Tvangeste

None of the stuff we've suggested really sounds like Children of Bodom, Kalmah, etc. But none of that's really "symphonic."

Yea I think he meant to say melodic.

Anywho Emperor and Limbonic Art are clearly the shit.
