The cool thing about this CD is that it feels familiar...like what you'd expect from a Devin Townsend band, yet it's original and unique to the discography. The first couple of acoustic songs, like "Let It Roll" start off the CD in a way that is much different from past albums. Then it takes an INFINITY like turn with quirky songs like "Vampolka" and "Vampira." And the last part of the album is strong, Devy metal. And a beautiful ending, "Notes From Africa," similar to TERRIA with it's lush sound effects. Easily a frontrunner for Album Of The Year with another UltimateMetal band, Daylight Dies.

Listening to it and reading the lyrics really show that it is linked with "Alien". The lyrics on Notes From Africa and the theme to Babysong show different sides and views presented in the latest SYL album.
Well, I think he said with ALIEN it was just alot of crap getting off his chest and SYNCHESTRA is the sort of...'cooldown.'

well...I really dislike Gaia and Notes From Africa! Accelerated Evolution is a much, much better album.
