System of a Down/Serj Tankian

Loving it lately. Holy mountain has some great vocals. what do you people think of either band? I accidentally clicked on Serj's myspace profile the other day and heard "sky is over" and instantly liked it, too.

I'm a big fan of System of a Down, actually Daron Malakian is one of my favorite artist (Even if I don't really like Scars On Broadway yet, the album is nowhere near any one he have done with SOAD, but again he didn't tried to, so.)

It's really too bad they split. They were pretty damn unique!

They are more in break... Serj got a moderate succes with is solo project and Daron is just in a different phase, I bet they'll do another album in like 3 years.

It's the band that got me into metal. I was playing The Legend of Zelda, and tried to find some TLoZ-related songs on Bearshare, but found a theme song done by System of a Down instead. I downloaded pretty much everything by them and liked it. Later I found out that the TLoZ song wasn't done by SoaD, but what the heck.

That song is always mistaken for SoaD, but it was actually with a little video on the net, but yeah the guy do sing like Serj.

^Same, except I was in Grade 9 at the time... I only listen to songs from Toxicity and Steal this Album! now when I'm working out, they are great songs.

I never got into SOAD or Serj's vocals. I'm usually into the experimental and unique musical styles but his vocals are a little off-putting for me.

That, is why you FAIL!!!

I'll check em out. I also like steely dan and phil collins. I don't really know what that has to do with this thread, besides letting you people know that my musicals tastes can be eccentric and wide. Bjork, too.

Joe likes indian music.

I went on a tangent of Traditional Chinese and japanese music a couple of years ago, and video game music before that. That japanese instrument that you ALWAYS hear intrigues me. the Sitar, too.

I want middles eastern music, maybe some real tribal stuff, not this neo tribal electronic stuff, although that stuff is cool, too.
