This comeback would likely have not really registered with me but with the one and only Scottish legend Doogie White on the mic for this comeback I have it give it the time of day. Judging by this song on YT this comeback is well worth it. Of course Doogie is an awesome singer and one of the best hard rock singers the UK has ever produced and very underrated in my book. The thing is the band around him sound on shit hot form too. This song sounds very good indeed and is it just me or does Doogie channel some big Dio influences here? Either way the song is great.

I love Tank and am absolutely disgusted that they did a new album without Algy. He IS Tank. It would be like if Motorhead went on without Lemmy. This doesn't even sound like Tank. They should've just named it something else.

Algy is not in the band anymore, so the band should stop? Accept should have stayed inactive because Udo didn't want to to do it anymore? I'm glad Accept went on and released a killer album with a new singer. Same for Tank. I'd rather have a new Tank without Algy than no Tank at all.

But I gotta agree with you that it's quite a departure from the Algy-fronted Tank. Sounds just like a new band with Doogie. But the album is excellent traditional HM anyway. And it's WAY better than 2002's Still At War, which had Algy Ward onboard so it's all good for me.

Now I'd just like them to release a live CD/DVD to hear the old songs sung by Doogie, which is a MUCH better singer than Mr. Ward will ever be...Don't be mistaken though, I like some of the old 80s Tank stuff (This Means War and Honour & Blood are good albums).

Umm...totally different situations. Algy was integral to not just the sound but the songwriting and attitude of the band. Udo pretty much was just a singer, and while he had distinctive vocals, Tornillo is pretty good at replicating that style. Algy, while he isn't anywhere near the top vocalist in the world fits the Tank sound and his vocals are very hard to mimic. Having a full singer like this new guy doesn't make much sense to me if they're going to call it Tank. And I know some will say, yeah it'll help marketability. Not really. Tank was never a household name to begin with.

And that's my point. I'm not saying for the guys not to play, but if this is the sound they want, they really need to re-name the band.

No balls? What is having balls for you? If traditional HM has no balls, then fine, I enjoy balls-less music...

Vocally this is more trad meets power metal.
I love both trad metal and power metal, but I want more raw delivery in my NWOBHM.

Go listen to the first Angel Witch or some Witchfynde, and then ask yourself if this has balls!

It isn't a bad track, but I wouldn't have slapped the band name TANK on this.

I dont think Angel Witch or Witchfynde has much balls....both are great bands but not "heavy" NWOBHM....there are lots of others who do though.

I never said heavy.
I said raw, and just in the vocal delivery.
I think there is a difference.

These vocals, while good, are too polished for TANK.

Exactly my point. I probably would be okay with this if it was just another band, but this has NOTHING to do with Tank besides some of the same band members.

For Labrekk and others (I'm not trying to be a dick here): Do you guys actually like past Tank albums? Some people on this thread are loving this, but I just don't understand how you can listen to this and think this is good Tank as it sounds nothing like Tank. Or is it because you're just fans of Doogie? I'm just curious more than anything else. As Jason said, they had raw vocals, and I'll also add that they had an almost punkish vibe. The reason I had the Lemmy comment is that Motorhead is the most similar band to them and they were always compared to Motorhead. This has none of that sound. Could you imagine anyone else singing Motorhead songs that had vocals like this? I didn't think so. A polished Tank is not Tank. Bottom line.

I see it as exactly the same as Accept, however I don't think Doogie will work as well in this case. Although it will still be good I'm sure.
Tank has always had a revolving door of musicians so why not. I am big on the idea that once a band has had so many changes then the longtime singer is replaced it is now time to just come up with a new new name. If I'm not mistaken it is now no original Tank members? If that is the case then why not come up with a new moniker? I know names are difficult to come up with these days but maybe they can come up with a senctence fragment like all the young kids do. Here are a few suggestions;
Not Really Tank
Almost Tank
Tank out of Gas
Blown Up Tank
Mark Brabbs' Tank featuring Herman Menderchuck

Man, you gotta read my posts...Here's what I wrote earlier in this very thread:

Feel free to be a dick if you want to. It's always fun to compare penis-length with others, so no worries ;)

And to answer your question: heck no, I hate Tank's older stuff. Always did. As you mentioned, they sound way too much like Motorhead, who, (besides Green Day and Kiss), ranks as the worst "hard rock/metal" band EVER.

Listening to these new tunes with good old Doogie singing I might actually have to buy my first Tank album ever.

But yes, I agree with you that this should have another name on it than Tank. Not because I care about bands changing line ups in the way you do, but more because I wouldn't have to feel embarrassed about having a Tank album in my collection once I get hold of this one.

c.

PS: what a bunch of wankers you all are if you really think that old Tank is any good. Such a horrible band. Wankers, I tell you, wankers!

;)
