A quite a few arcade enthusiasts from www.shoryuken.com are trying to put together a PCB that has optical sensors for Sanwa JLF-Joysticks, as opposed to microswitches. This in effect recreates the Sanwa JLF Flash. A completely switch-free arcade joystick that is no longer on the market. The joystick itself is still in production but not the optical PCB.

The manufcaturing of the PCBS are almost complete all minus one very vital part. This little baby:

Texas Instruments CD54HC14, a High Speed CMOS Logic Hex Inverting Schmitt Trigger. They are scarce but someone has to have a stockpile somewhere and they are not available in small quantities if available at all.

So far they've came across a few however they've had to use them for testing the sensors with the sticks (which worked but there have been some resistor issues.) We need many, many more for both testing and production. The biggest problem is finding a dealer that will sell them in the hundreds and not in the hundreds of thousands. Any help would be greatly appreciated and surely cash rewarded by members of www.shoryuken.com So far $50 is guranteed to anyone who can locate a good number of these for sale in less than ridiculous quantities. I'm sure we could scrounge together as much money as needed though to find a source I'd give you a few dollars myself  . Dig out your blueberry's gentlemen.

Here's the source material:

On another nore, the "re"creator of this pcb has also made this http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=131230

So he's a source worth investing in. Get in on the project and you're sure to reap the benefits even if it just means a sexy arcade stick to play your games with.

No thread has ever gone over my head such as this.

Last time I owned an actual joystick it looked like this:
