its gonna be summer any minute now! and me and me girlfriend and me friends have a MILLION TRILLION plans, i don't know how i'm gonna pull all this off in 4-5 weeks of vacation!

* gonna go to a house in norrmjöle and do some bathing and fishing and beer drinking
* gonna go to a house in dajkanvik for more of the same
* i really wanna do some mountain trekkin' (fjällvandring) when i'm in dajkanvik since there are a bunch of mountains nearby and whatnot
* also i wanna go to norway, visit lovund and see the puffins (this is expensive tho)
* also me and my girlfriend may be going to riga, since they opened a new direct flight route umea>riga and it would be fun to see riga and be all like "hey riga. whats up in riga."
* also we're going to my girlfriend's summer cabin in balsjö outside kramfors, and also to sundsvall for the äventyrsbad
* also i want to drink a LOT OF BEER and do a lot of BATHING in umea
* i need to tend to my balcony garden too with a bunch of chilies and spices >:[
* im pretty sure i forgot some things

anyway

what are your plans? maybe you just wanna sit around and chillax. thats ok. either way, summer is the best. if you dont live in a cold region with six months of winter, you have no idea how special summer is when it finally decides to show its grim countenance

Just out of curiosity, how warm does summer actually get over there?
Winter over here still never gets below zero, so I feel like we miss some of the significance of the seasonal shift, it just goes from comfortable to really fucking hot.

I'm just starting a 2-weeks vacation which I'll spend mostly driving around France seeing olde mates and helping my parents fix their new kitchen. Just got back from a 4-days trip in Eastern Germany with Dev, visiting Dresden (probably most beautiful city in Europe) and mountain-hiking, pics in the pipeline.

Next 2 weeks off will be at the beginning of September. Friends and I are planning to attend the Killtown Death Fest in Copenhagen, but I'm getting a bit worried about that since band announcements should have been made months ago and still nothing up. Hope it won't be cancelled!

personally, i know that i have a $1075/month rent plus a shitload of other bills. when you make about $450/week then there is no possibility for a summer vacation. a horrible truth i have come to live with...

LMFAO... I wish you were right. Sounds like Sweden has it figured out.

there are definitely jobs with paid vacation over here, but that's not something you're usually going to encounter if you are without a college degree (although those are basically useless these days). things are so fucked up over here that a lot of companies are forcing their employees to take "furlough" days which means that you have to take a day off, but you can't get paid for it. my girlfriend had two in three months. my boss would let me take a day or possibly two off, but NEVER a whole week and I would NEVER get paid for it.

This year... i haven't really decided where to spend the majority of my vacation. One week is booked for May 3-11 for California with the family, leaving the better part of 10 paid days left to fuck around.

I'm going to a friend's cottage for the long weekend in May, nowhere too far, a couple hours north from here.

Possibly going to whatever metalfest is in Texas in December that has all the awesome bands playing... no time to look for the name now, must go to work

4 weeks?! Shit, I'll get that after 10 years of service at my job...It might even be 15. 3 weeks after 7 years. I'm currently at 2 with 5 years put in.


Lurch, how the fuck do you afford to live with that income/monthly rent? Are your utilities included? Even then, you have a daughter and that little car of yours.
