Telstra to increase their call prices

Telstra are expensive but are they any good?
I'm with 3 and I lose reception EVERYWHERE i go, their reception is so shit and every time I call tech support I cannot understand a word those Indians say. I need a new service provider and I was wondering what everyone recommends.

I have an iPhone 3GS by the way....

Yeah, pretty much what Blitz says. At work we've tried a number of different services (usually wireless broadband), but always end up back at Telstra because it works.

Optus for customer service, Telstra for coverage, Vodafone for value
I fixed it for you. And even then Optus' customer service is only good by telco standards, Telstra's coverage is hobbled by their incompetence managing their soft infrastructure, and Vodafone's value is neutered by the completely fucking useless network.

3 now share a large chunk of Vodafone's network and have shitter plans.
Virgin share the Optus network but have THE worst customer service.

I'm giving Vodafone until March to have their service significantly improved, then I'm jumping ship again. I'd like to try Optus again but 'cap' plans with massively inflated per minute rates are bullshit and their non cap plans really just suck.

There was a tech guy on the radio a while back, and what the telcos have done with caps and pricing is ludicrous.

Mobile call prices were what they were because they were genuinely expensive, then as technology improved, the true price dropped, while the retail price remained.

That's how they give $300 of calls for $60....it's not really $300 of value, it's $60, and only for the hardened user.

And their prepaid offerings are often shit as well. I don't make many calls, so 30 day validity of recharges is appalling.
