The Biggest Fiasco in Metal History - Metal Open Air Festival

Yep, Milwaukee, NJ Metal Meltdown (including the infamous two stages separated by a curtain), and a fest in Southern California for a couple years...November to Dismember I believe?

He started out fairly reputable but as time went on, he got shadier and shadier - more bands would cancel for any given fest, more bands would get hosed on payments, etc. Milwaukee Metalfest did bring a lot of bigger underground bands over for their US debut, but the fest became a parody of itself for the final few years.

He also did the "Sun and Steel" fest in Tampa in '04. Horrible turnout for that.

Most are looking at the pit instead of the band, LOL!!! Otherwise, what a bunch of noise!!!

Dude, look at that pit. How could you not stare? Lol

Also, yeah, audio quality of the video sucks (I assume thats what you mean). The band playing (Korzus) is a crazy-good Thrash band. They ended up being the headliners of the fest pretty much. Played for over 2 hours and a half and people were going nuts. Great band, check them out if you like thrash metal.

Two songs off their last album:

Is Jack Koshick the guy who did those Milwaukee Metalfests? If I recall correctly, those had pretty big reps back then too! Alot of bands like Immortal, Emperor, Windir, etc made US debuts there.

LOL, when you're bored, run a simple Jack Koshick search on Google. Interesting results...

Just got this in e-mail:

Symphony X has just returned from São Luís, Brazil after playing the country’s first Metal Open Air festival.

We want to thank the fans for sticking it out on Friday night! We were extremely close to having to cancel the show due to technical reasons and did not know if we would even play for sure until an hour before the set, which had already been delayed two hours. The lack of organization and chaos surrounding the event, which had also been noted by the media, had forced many bands to cancel. This is unfair to the fans in attendance, and unfortunately these fans were robbed of many performances.

We are extremely glad that we were able to perform that night, as we are there for the fans first and foremost, and will always do everything in our power to make our show happen. On a personal note, we would like to thank Dave Mustaine and the Megadeth guys, their crew, and of course also our crew, for aiding us in making our show happen (to see what Dave had to say about the festival, and Michael Romeo/Symphony X in particular, head over to http://legacy.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=172916). We have been to Brazil many times and find that some of the world’s greatest fans are there!

So once again, a big THANKS to the many great fans, we hope to see you all before too long!
