Tenhi "Väre"

Just bought this a few days ago. Really cool album. Compared to "Kauan", which is the only other album I have, it's a bit more experimental but also "rock-based", though it's not really rock at all... It has more drums and more other weird instruments, but most of all it's real quality music.

The packaging is some of the most exquisite I've seen also, great presentation. White foldout Digipak with cool nature pics and a neat little booklet (not booklet-sized, but smaller) -- very well-designed with lyrics and stuff. I dunno why I made this thread exactly, except to recommend this album to others, it's really cool. I suppose I should get the rest of Tenhi's works now, seeing as both I have so far are really intriguing.

Yeah, it's nice. I've had it for a couple of years now. I like Kauan the most because it's less spa-like.

Some 'Prophecy Records' music is so therepeutic and relaxing, they could use it in nature videos or herbal steam bath advertisments. And at that point, I don't see why people don't just start buying "relaxation music".

Vwre is the first Tenhi I heard and it rules. I think Kauan is a bit better though.

I'll have to disagree with you there; I think Väre is way too rocky and "modern" (lacking a better word), it completly fails to communicate any emotion.

And Kuan I find extremly uneven, some of the songs are stunningly beautiful while other almost make me cringe :<

I think Väre is great, but Kauan was better in many ways. Väre is more "world-music", when Kauan is just very nature-oriented. I suggest you to visit http://www.utustudio.com/releases.shtml where is 4 songs from upcoming Harmaa-album, that is a side project of Tenhi-guys and continues the Airut-saga.

Do you collect vinyls Erik, since I know where you can buy Väre as a vinyl? Partly hand-painted covers etc.

Vare is ok, but I didn't like it anywhere near as much as Kauan, which I think is pretty fantastic.

Most Prophecy releases have really nice packaging actually. They've started releasing most new albums as limited edition 2-CDs with a bonus disc (mostly not exactly essential), but it makes for a really nice digi-pack. I think it's the same guy who does a lot of the artwork for their albums too, and it's always of really high quality.

Bleh, disregard that first bit, the second part still holds true though, but perhaps the tracks I was refering to are the bonus tracks of the re-release.

Anyway I'm listening to Väre now, trying to decide whether I like it or not, and I think I do, a lot potentially. But the real reason I bumped this thread was because of the track Keväin (#4), is it supposed to stop abruptly or is my mp3 version fucked up? :<

Anyway, the abrupt stopping, then the few milliseconds of silence and the drum roll that starts the next track... I think it sounds really cool.

French sucks and is sweet at the same time . A very painful language to learn that is.. as Swedish

As far as Tenhi are concerned , Väre is my favorite but Kauan is on par in terms of essentialness
