I just got The Ritual and Souls of Black tab books. There are couple parts I don't understand. How do you do the end of the Face in the Sky solo? It goes something like this:

T T T T
______ ______ ______ ______
l l l l l l l l
e--19-26-17--19-26-17--19-26-17--19-26-17

T T T T T
______ ______ ______ ______ _____
l l l l l l l l l l
e--19-26-17--19-26-17--19-26-17--19-26-17--21------7

Then it says: Note: Slide pick beyond fingerboard to the "26th fret" following each tap.

And how do you do the beginning of the Souls of Black solo?
AH
full full T
e----------------------------------------------------
g-----8--10b--10pb(22)-------------------------
b--9------------------------------------------------

How do you do that Artificial Harmonic tap thing?

Damn that came out really fucked up! The Taps are supposed to be above the 19's and over the 21 on the Face in the Sky part. And on the Souls part, the fulls are above the 10's and the AH tap is above the 22nd. Sorry bout that.

Well, the taps, you just tap the 19 with your pick and then slide the pick up to the neck pickup while pushing down on the strings with it and let go while fretting the 16 with ur left hand, pretty simple.

For the harmonic, u bend the 10th fret up a step to 12, then tap your right index (or whatever u use) finger on the 22nd fret, but dont push down, tap it like you fret a natural harmonic with your left hand, so just touch the string but don't push down, that'll raise the pitch an octave.....hope i helped

Thanks a lot man! That really helped! I got one more question. On that tap at the end of the Face in the Sky solo on the 21st fret, don't you slide your finger down the neck? Cuz its sounds like he does that but it doesn't say it in the book.

Hehe sorry man I haven't heard that solo, when u say finger down the neck do u mean finger as opposed to pick like i suggested or that he uses his finger to slide down towards the first fret at the end or something? And if it sounds like he does that, just do it and it'll sound like the album, cuz everyone hears what you hear on the album right? So if that'll make it sound more accurate go for it.

Did u understand my little rant about the natural harmonics thing? Like did ya get it working?

Yeah I meant to say does he slide the pick. But I watched the Seen Between the Lines video and he does do a pick slide from the 21st fret down, at least that is what it looks like. And yeah I understood what you were saying about the harmonics, and it really helped a lot, thanks man. I got the Souls of Black solo down pretty good now. After I finish the Face in the Sky solo, I'm going to work on the Return to Serenity solo. But its really difficult, Alex's legato technique is amazing.
