TESTAMENT - The Formation of Damnation

I bet this album will be better than Metallica's new ablum.

 is it some unspoken internet rule to bash Metallica? they came off tour playing all the old stuff that people love and are writting without bob rock, and they have rick rubin is kicking thier asses to get them back in the mindset there were in when they wrote :worship: master of puppets and And Justice... :worship: don't crush my one small ray of hope that burns within me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About the new Testament record, i hope i kickass ass too, we need more great metal records. not many bands are left doing someting orignal and unique sounding. I do wish james Murphy was on lead though, Low is by far one of the greatest metal records of all time, i'm a grunge baby though, and i still remember hearing Shades of War and Dog Faced Gods on a local radio station and being blown away. His leads are so fluid, and John Tempesta was just awesome.

About Metallica, you have to realize alot of us grew up on Metallica, in their hay day I guess when they were the heaviest band in the world which the most crushing sound (Flemming did a great job). When they released the black album I know atleast I felt slightly let down, and when the Loads came out it was a completely different band, and with their makeup and pimp dress up clothes it was almost like a betrayal. So yes it is almost an unwritten rule to bash them. As far as their new material, from what they released of their new stuff during live performances I can say I am not impressed, its better but not great. And Rubin can only do so much. As far as them getting into the same mindset as during the recording of MOP and Justice, they really cant, at those times they had another bass player(atleast with MOP) that was responsible for alot of the harmonizing and melody, and they were still pissed of angry young men back then--now they are art collecting, extremely rich socialites. The fire is gone. Now having said that, I hope this album kicks major ass but I am not setting my hopes too high. This album is either going to reclaim their metal throne or be the final nail in a once outstanding metal band

Back to topic, cant wait to hear the new Testament. This album I have a feeling will exceed my expectations. Musically they always had it, and with Skolnick back in the band the band will be complete again. Thats not a knock at James Murphy, who is a guitar god in his own right, but Skolnicks signature style helped create that distinctive sound.

I agree with all that.

...and that.

Haha, na. Give it a week of two after that, you should either see it in JB HiFi or Metal Mayhem.

I'll be looking for it within the first week haha.

Yeah me too, let me know if you get it before me...actually I wonder if its worth pre-ordering somewhere over the net.....hmm, I caught some of the Testament Live DVD - damm these guys are awesome !

I picked up their Live in London DVD the other day in JB for $9. After not listening to them since "Practice what you preach" and "Souls of Black days" (18 or 19 years ago, damn I'm getting old) it was weird to listen to them again.

Can't wait to hear Andy's 5150 III tones on the new album.

Absolutely... The Gathering is awesome, great songs, great production, and it just never gets old.
If someone ever asks me "what is metal?", I will put on The Gathering... ;)

and the Live in London DVD is the king of all live DVDs!
"ARE YOUUUUU READAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!?!?" :worship:notworthy

As for the new album, I am absolutely stoked.
