Tewtal newb: Cheapest way to set up DDrums

I was told this is the way to go. For an acoustic kit, is it a case of buying triggers and some sort of interface and then you blend the live sounds (probably more of the overheads and room sound) with the samples you want in the trigger?

Am I on the right track?

What is the cheapest/most effective way to record via triggers.

get the good trigger with the XLR connections on them... plug each of them directly into a mic pre and record the audio spikes... trigger from those...

rinse... repeat...
