Being a life-long fan of King Diamond, I have to ask.
I notice in the Bands you thank, you mention King Diamond/Mercyful Fate and crew.

Did you guys ever play with the mighty King?

No, we've never played with King other than being on a metalfest type bill with him but that of course was along with many other bands as well.

It was me who thanked the bands and specifically their crew, as I'd gotten to know them a bit over the previous few years because my roommate and close buddy is part of the King Diamond/Mercyful Fate road crew. Ole Bang and the other regular crew guys that've been there for years have always been really cool and friendly to me when I've met them and hung out over the years, so I was acknowledging them as well as my roommate in that little thanks I made. Plus Ole and Hank Shermann once gave me a brand new coffee maker to take home, but that's a whole 'nother story haha....Last time I got sent home with some really good cake and a couple dozen fresh eggs. I always wind up leaving with some good stuff when I see them, it's a bit like grocery shopping haha

I've met and talked with King himself before, he's a really nice guy, big Nascar fan actually. Just laid back and likes his privacy most of the time, which I can understand since alot of his fans are fuckin' nuts haha

Yeah, I met King and his band at Rolling Stone records, when they came through on the THEM tour. They were all cool as hell, esp Mikkee Dee, who today remains one of my favorite drummers ever.

Cool, you know them and their crew. As I said, I have been a fan of King/Fate for over half my life.

King lives in Texas now right? Could you see King sitting at a Nascar race? :)

Yeah King lives in Texas, has for a while now. I could definitely see him going to Nascar races and stuff, he's a pretty normal guy from what I can tell. I'm not like, good friends with any of them, just acquaintances really.

Just for the hell of it, what's your favorite King and Mercyful Fate albums? Mine would be "Abigail" and "Don't Break the Oath".

My all-time fav King release is Them. I love both Abigail and Fatal Portrait as well, though Them just takes me back to my fondest memories of really getting into metal and start going to shows. The Puppet Master was absolutely brilliant as well.

All the Fate stuff is classic. My fav material is the old EP (sometimes known as Nuns Have No Fun) stuff, like "Corpse Without Soul", "Doomed by the Living Dead", etc. I never got into the reformed MF material. It never seemed to make sense to me to do it in the first place, considering it was never original members or anything. Glad to see that over the past few years, King has paid more focus to his solo efforts.

The 1990s era MF was really good actually. I thought the "9" album was great and seeing them a couple times on that tour were some of the best shows I've ever seen. Mike Wead's style might suit him better as part of the King Diamond band rather than MF, but he was still awesome. Of course it's not the same without Denner there, but Hank still played great. Bjarne is a perfect drummer for MF too, I was never overly excited with Kim Ruzz' drumming skills personally.

I'd like to see MF do one last go 'round on tour, actually. I've seen the King Diamond solo band so many times in the past seven years, I'd like to hear more MF stuff again.

I have heard a little off of "9" actually. It was pretty decent from what I recall.

I always had the flyer on my wall growing up for Motorhead, Mercyful Fate, and Exciter at the Metro. I was way too young though at the time to go to shows. That was always one of my favorite flyers.
