Never really got it how to achieve that beside the obvious (dry sounding cymbal+hard/steady hitting drummer). Eq sweet spots or spot micing or anything to get me closer?

This is close what I mean starting at 0.32:

For me the actual mic used under the ride isnt that important. I've used a 58 under there and still had good results. Anyways, the close ride mic is only used to beef up the sound a bit, the majority of the tone of that ride comes from the overheads.

Right ride, right hands and technique, mic under, eq it way thinner. If you want it less washy, try a transient designer like the one in reaper reducing the resonance and leave that to the OHs/room.

In the first video, it took me 2 seconds to notice that he's touching the ride, not hitting it. He plays the ride so soft with the tip that the sound can get very clear but not ping-y. And yes, regular sticks will do it if you use new ones with the right cymbal. Sounds like a thick 24 or 22" with plenty of eq
