"The Archetype" was born in Florence in 2006 when almost the entire line-up (Giordano, Alessandro, Marco e Gianluca) started playing together, but it was only some months later that, after some attempts, the band found a permanent bassist in Niccolò.
With this formation “The Archetype” started writing its own songs defining more and more their style and sound. The music finds inspiration in bands like OPETH, NEVERMORE, KATATONIA, Death but it's also influenced by new sounds came out in the metal scene in the last years. The sound is defined by aggressive and at the same time melodic songs, with a particular attention given to their structure, winded guitar's melodies, the use of the voice in a perfect mix of growl and clean lines and to the complex arrangements of compositions, focused in particular on vocals lines and guitars.
We can define this style as a sort of progressive metal, also influenced by thrash and death metal, however maintaining a personal and peculiar style and so trying to avoid falling in any kind of genre clichés.... but in few words, it's quite hard to find an exact definition for The Archetype's music!
The Archetype gathered its live experience during an intense gigs' activity started in 2007 and playing their songs in many venues in whole Tuscany region, always receiving good responses as from fans as from the critic. During the last months the band has joined some important shows as support act for bands such "HOUR OF PENANCE", "ELDRITCH" and "A STORM OF LIGHT".
During summer 2008 the band entered in Studio to record their first full length album, "The Fallen Grace", at Synchropain Studios (Pisa), a concept album composed by of 8 tracks for a total running time of around 51 minutes, played with the collaboration of Eugene Simone of the band ELDRITCH.
The song “The Fall” from “The Fallen Grace” has been chosen on popular demand to be part of “Invasione Totale Pt. III”, a free compilation produced by an Italian metal underground association, “Granducato di Metallo”, that will be distributed during festivals like Wacken Open Air, Metalcamp, Gods Of Metal and others.
