Hi!

It's propably a bit too extreme for the most guys...
but i think it's fucking Killer! :)
The roar and grind is almost unbeatable.
I used an EMG loaded Dean Cadikill, a TS9 and an ISP, additionally to the built in beast-section of the stock 2203KK. The Cab is a Marshall MR1960TV, loaded with G12M25 Greenbacks.Miked with a single Sm57. It's raw- like almost everytime.
What do you think?

Regards,
Simon

I think the tone on this video is better than the first one you posted with this cab. I dont think this would be very distinct on its own but maybe in a mix as a supporting tone. Im pretty sure its the cab that I dont like. Its just too much breakup and saturation imo, it makes the otherwise good riffing sound like crap. Usually this head has this great cutting pick attack and here its just all mushy and garbled.

This. Greenbacks tend to "break" really easy. Thats the fart sound we are hearing.

I tried the amp with my Recto 412 today and it was...surprise, surprise :) much tighter, but still with some recto boominess to it
I think you are good to go with a HP with the Greenbacks and I like them in the room. Did you check out the other vid? If so, what do you think?

No. This is the greatest metal amp in the world.

Yes I did! Both are good tones, don't get me wrong. And the break point of greenbacks has nothing to do with hipass, its just a volume thing. I really like it for rock/hard rock. Not that much for metal. I would go with GT75 and V30.

I would like to hear more exemples of this jcm pairing with other cabs though

Thanks! Master volume was on 1. That can't be the issue. The amp itself tightens up a lot with master volume on 3. The cab is brand new and was really harsh in the beginning. Need to try it out loud again, soon. I liked the EVH 5150 III cab and i like oversized cabs, that's why i bought the 1960TV and another 2203kk which i will leave stock,to add it to my "collection",(I also have a rectifier 412 and a mode four 400) after selling the EVH, for all kinds of "classic" rock sounds. But i also like it for high gain stuff.
I am going to do some cab comparisons soon. Maybe next weekend...

Marshall amps are really great because of that distinctive crunch they have, but Engl amps are among the best amps I believe.
The Powerball sounds so massive and metal.

I can hear that g25 sound I love, but I have never gotten a primary tone from an on axis dust cap micing with the g25. I have no experience with the 2203kk, but from my marshal experiences, it sounds like your bass is too high.
