I'd say the best part about the word "negroes" would have to be when you hear somebody (your grandmother, for example) use the term in earnest. An example would be: "This negro boy we had working for us back in the sixties showed up yesterday to say hello because he was back in the area on his way to Greensboro."

"coloured" isn't as funny because of the british spelling...but "colored" = hilarity.

I also like "darkies" quite a bit.
