The Cape (New NBC show in January)

People said the same thing about Xena, back in the day.. and look how long that stuck around! I need to watch this show. As a lover of all things cheezy, it looks like it was made for nerds like me.

this is the atittude that kills intellegent well written shows. The mainstream think that stuff like this is what comic books are like. I still am waiting for a true to comic tv series. I know it will never happen in my lifetime since 80% of the country thinks comic books are written for 10 year olds and it is a never ending battle of super heroes trying to catch villians robbing banks.
People just saying I like it because it is cheezy drives me nuts because it doesnt send a message to the people making the show and then the networks will never learn. Then we get this type of show over and over again.

I am not looking forward to another Spider-Man origin story...

oh GOD yeah

Sony F's Raimi by making him put VEMON into Spidey 3 when he originally had nothing to do with it. It absolutely guts the movie - then they tell him that they're giving him free reign on Spidey 4..........

Aaaaand then they cancel Spidey 4 out from under him and decide to reboot the whole damn franchise.....

Aholes......

As far as comic book TV series go, anyone remember THIS?

Probably not... based on the FIRST comic series by Mike Grell back in the 80s heydays.......

I actually remember watching an episode or two

Actually Rami botched the plans for Spidey 4. He went way off course...most believe to get out of the contract and be able to move on to other projects. He tossed in the Vulture and wanted a female Vulture and then he was going to add some other characters as well. I think the reboot is a terrible idea. They should have just made another film with just different actors and not redo the origin. There are plenty of web-head tales to tell.

I agree that after Spidey 3 that the ship had sailed on Raimi. I still haven't gotten around to see it, but from everything I hear it suffers from too many plot elements. (X3 also suffers from this problem.)

Fans are always frustrated with origin stories, because it takes away from what they really want: super hero action.

How did Raimi 'go off course'? They didn't even have a finished script he liked - he wanted the guy who wrote the first one to take a pass at the script because he hated it and told Sony he would not be able to make their set release date, which they set of course for business reasons (summer blockbuster etc). And they pulled the plug.

Raimi wanted Malkovich for the Vulture - and apparently Sony wanted the whole female vulture idea (Anne Hathaway).....
