The ongoing debate. Now I am not saying this is MY opinion just an observance. Here is KISS on the DESTROYER tour in 76-77 in Japan doing Firehouse. After the first chorus and the lyrics say ,"The Flames Keep Getting Higher" Gene flashes devil/metal horns.

Don't know if Dio has done this before then but this is before he would have joined Sabbath when he states himself as using it for the first time. (1980)

Makin' Love is on there also so it may be a cool clip for some just for kicks.:goggly:

That mean church.
And I stick with the Dio

Neither, the symbol is hundreds of years old. If we are jsut deciding between Dio and Simmons however the winner is....Dio's Grandma! He used the symbol because she did. She used it in the context of old italian superstition. It was a symbol to ward off the evil eye. On a side note, members of the Parliment Funkadelic and their fans have been using the symbol for decades as well. Before Dio or Simmons.

Why is this topic talked about so much still?

Dio's Italian grandmother taught it to him and he seemed to make it popular, in Italy it means that a person is being cheated on by his wife or husband, if you point them the 'horns', like the word 'basterd'. It can also be used to ward off the evil eye

This is the truth.

So what were really asking is "who made it popular for people who don't even listen to Metal to show the devil horns?" Or is it "who made it popular for people who think what they listen to metal to do the love sign and think it's the sign for metal?"

Yes, those are actual sentences. Read them twice if needed.

My vote goes for Dio. I know he obviously didn't "do it first", but he definetly made it popular. I've never seen Gene Simmons do it anyway.

Kiss and alice cooper might have influenced king diamond image wise as a vocalist. I'm not really sure about that though.
