I've been listening to alot of Devil Wears Prada recently and love the most recent album, With Roots Above and Branches Below.

I was just wondering how you achieve the delayed guitar tone on Pod Farm. Do you use the same setup as the standard tone? (screamer, cali diamond plate, etc..). This is the tone that is generally used on the high end tremelo parts and can be heard in the video of Assistant to the Regional Manager in the intro.

Hey Joey, I was wondering how are Jeremy's vocals processed in TDWP's records.

Does he sing them twice, or do you just use a doubler plugin to achieve that "wet" sound?

I have the AVOX Duo vocal doubler plugin, but my attempts have resulted in the vocals sounding "chorused"/robotic.

I also tried the traditional method of singing twice... found it very tiresome, and I guess I'm just not accurate enough with the second layer and need more practice (yes, it's me the one who's singing XD).

Any other processing besides the obvious delays and reverbs?

I guess there is an unwritten rule somewhere that says all discussions pertaining to a specific album should be put into one thread - which is totally fine, I guess it keeps cluttering to a minimum. It's just that I didn't realize there was even such a "rule" (if you can even call it that) so that's why I originally made a new thread.

ANYWAY! Maybe I should start a new thread on clean vocal processing... but I'm still interested in how Jeremy DePoyster's vocals were done in TDWP's records.

The reason microphones were initially mounted upside down, was to prevent the hot tubes from affecting the capsule's performance. Hot air rises!

And it free's up some space for vocal notes/lyric sheets etc.

there are a lot of reasons to hang a mic up side down. I find it can help with P's B's and s's sometimes. and I have buddy's that claim it can help with singers with a higher range, not sure if I agree with that statement though. most common reason for me to do it is to fit another mic under it.

I noticed that a good amount of delay should give you close to those "angelic"-kinda sound..

Not sure if this was already answered, but anyone knows which kind of arpeggiator joey uses to get this trance-like sound on the devil wears pradas albums?

I just can't figure out how to get this tone, its probably some kind of saw-synth with an arpeggiator..

i'm gonna say either nexus or vanguard.

...both use the same trance gate engine. but you can do it with any sawtooth pad and 'mute' automation.
