nah, only if im trying to polish a turd and have exhausted all my other options. it shouldnt take more than a highpass/lowpass and a few eq bells of no more than 6db to get the tone right, otherwise the source is lacking

wow, that sounds pretty extrem to me already..
I can't remember the last time I used more than HP/LP and perhaps a narrow 2dB cut for the fizz....
dunno what I'm doing wrong, whenever I use more EQ than that I end up with a result not as good as the raw tracks.
I never understood how C.Richardson can make his guitars sound that good with that much EQ.

Everyone has a different method. I agree that EQ should be kept minimal if possible. Totally imperative that the raw tone be good though.
I've been in a habit of grossly over-EQing guitars for the last several projects, but it's come about as a result of necessity. If the source isn't right, I have to do everything in my power to get it right.
i personally never ever recorded a tone that made it to the final mix without shitloads of eqing. i wished my tones sounded as cool as yours (lasse) and gregs right away, but on the other hand, my shitty micing skills tought me how to eq the shit out of guitars
high gain guitars are science, its really really one of the most difficult
instruments to eq (having recorded violin, cello, flutes etc. and never ever have i had so many problems eqing instruments) but high gain guits -
well when I say 6db I mean that is probably the most i would ever want to cut/boost otherwise the mic should move some. Almost always there will be some pocket of muddiness that needs to be cleared anywhere from 100-400 and then while mixing ill find a couple spots that need to be cut to mesh with the rest of the mix better, but these are normally about 2-3db cuts. i try to avoid boosting usually but sometimes adding 5k to dull guitars helps a ton

We should be putting up the lyrics to all the songs within the next day or so... Alot of people have been asking for the lyrics and we just have had alot of other things to deal with lately... Soo I'd say check the myspace page within the next day or so as I'm sure there will be a blog with the lyrics posted asap... Also glad to hear you are diggin the album...

+1 to the guys equing the guitars a lot. I've purposefully tried to keep the eq to a minimum and it never sounds good enough or rather some harsh or muddy aspect of the tone keeps bugging me.

yea shipping costs are a pain in the ass... We are trying to get some kind of worldwide distro (besides digital online) for the new year so it wont be such a hassle on both ends to get the cd... thanks for purchasing the album despite the shipping costs

Hey Marcus, thanks for the lyrics - this is really the best album I've heard in a while. Musicianship is top notch, vox & lyrics are amazing too. I tend to love albums that have a msg, I never thought a political metal album would sound so good!
I remember hosting the demo of We The People for you so people here could mix it - sounds even better on the LP!

Yea we released an indie DIY video of our song "Awaken"... Just some live footage synced up to the album audio... Good to see you are enjoying the album man and thanks again for hosting up the We The People files back in the day haha...
