I know there were a few posts about this earlier but I couldn't find any useful information, and someone had pointed to a broken link: so, was there ever any solution to this problem with PC-unreadable Gallery CDs?

can't remember the names of the threads or the possible solution listed. my idea is you could try asking phyre: i seem to remember he gave his thoughts and possibly offered a solution. i could be wrong tho.

rahvin.

Try playing it in a stereo, or getting a new PC
I think it might be something with the CD drive, as some of my CD's will play in one drive, but not the other (I have 2)

what he means is the copy protection on newer original cds which prevent them to be played o a computer (and therefore can't for example be ripped). there was a solution, but i guess that's rather unhealthy if you do it wrong. you can get a black marker pen and simply overwrite the track which contains the faulty data which causes the pc not to accept the cd. there are instructions on the net somewhere, i don't know where you'd have to mark your cd. and i for one wouldn't want to try out...

Using Linux doesn't help. Using a Mac doesn't help. My only copy-"protected" disk, Enslaved "Monumension", will not play under GNU/Linux.

OK, depends on the program. All my protected CD have some silly protection that only works in Windows.

I´ve tried to put my gallery inside of PC but it made my comp tilt. Quite nice copy protection I´d say :)
