The snake represents the injected drug of this chick's choice, most notably heroin. At first the snake seems like her friend. It makes her feel... like an angel. She holds tight to the snake. Over time(if she doesn't o.d.) the snake drains her. Takes her mind, soul, life. She doesn't even see it and/or doesn't want to see it. She dies spiritually then physically.
