Hey,

i love the Sound of this Manson Album. Skold makes in my eyes the coolest sound (maybe not the best but the coolest :) ) ... i know its not that big metal sound but i love it.

what do you think whats the secret of that sound? What do you advice me vor getting that sound? I dont tell you what i do because i dont want to affect you.

Thank you
Nw

you mean the bass sound? I doubt very many here knows who Tim Skold is or the other members of the band.

The studio photos (posed) I've seen were with him playing a left handed Fender P-Bass strung right-handed (upside down). He also has a ton of effects pedals.

You could try to find the list of gear he used on that tour.

Most of the guitars were tracked on Teles and Les Pauls, Skold recorded on p bass, but I actually think John covered a bit of bass (since it was after Twiggy left). Skold's production is usually DIs with fx pedals/amp sims, don't think he mics bass cabs up often. Only pic I've seen of Skold for GAOG is the white pbass, I think he only used Gretsch on the GAOG tour for aesthetic reasons. Guitar I think was Marshall amps although John endorsed Crate around that time.

Twiggy on the other hand is almost usually just a straight di/mic blend with p basses (doesn't record on tbirds or bc richs often) through Ampeg rigs. MM is typically just whatever gets the job done, although the new album Born Villain is all first take guitars reamped through Kemper.

Thanks 2 u 2 :)

@ AudioGeekZine

no the bass sound is no problem but skold isnt only the bassist of this album but the (a?) Producer of it. I mean the overall Sound.

@ wishtheend

Interesting where did you get this infos from?

Here are the infos i have about the git sound (but they are from PR posts so i doubt its all true)

one PR post says: All guitar Sounds of this Album is with the Framus Dragon (John 5)
The other PR post says all guitar sounds of this album is made with Marshall JMP-1 (John5)

it would be interesting which Amp sims and witch fx pedals skold uses. Any Infos? And exprecially where did you get the kemper info from? (i thinking about buying one anyway when the rack is out)

Thanks again

Framus cobra amp head into Framus Cobra 4x12 cabinets can achieve great electronica type of distortion close to that album.
