I guess their last album passed you by then? I'm sure you know of their (previous) high standing within death metal?
Well....... their first album in 8 years resulted in this........
A large amount of the hate lies in the fact that the band (david vincent in particular) are in complete denial that they have completely shit on a legacy.
He still maintains that this/\ is pushing musical boundaries, and that anyone who doesn't like it is closed minded and not a "real" Morbid Angel fan.

Hi, here's a short list of some bands I really liked that did their best to take the meanest dump possible on whatever it was that I liked about their music. In no particular order:
Mayhem
Darkthrone
Enslaved
Immortal
Gorgoroth
Dodheimsgard
Ulver
Emperor
Satyricon
I'm sure there are quite a few other less significant fuckups. But as far as I'm concerned, they put Fag-out/Sellout in the water system up there or something. And Vikernes is only the exception that proves the rule (then again he was in jail and shit haha)
Ahaha I see what you mean, although I have to disagree about Mayhem and Gorgoroth, I can understand if you don't like them, but they are essentially different bands you are talking about.
From what I can tell the riffs that Thor (still can't believe that's his name
) wrote are actually pretty sick, and in the vein of Myrkskog and old MA, but in context they make for really shitty songs.

Yes of course this is all personal perception, and to every man his personal preference.However I'm sure you can appreciate the sentiment when viewed trough the prism of the new MA. And yeah I'd presume this guy joined MA cause he was/is a fan. Although there must be a part of him that wants bread in his belly cause if he as a fan can agree this is the direction MA should take, and there is no monetary/fame interest involved, my assumption that most Norwegian metalheads subside on a strict diet of frogurt must be right.

i mean i won't deny that the new morbid angel is shit,
when great bands do this kind of experiments, most of it usually does turn out to be shit, but i think its worth it for the 1 out of 10 bands where it turns out great
from kvoid's list, most of them really fucked it up IMO, but those who didn't make some of my favourite music
its like they can either release another good but conventional album, or they can make an experiment that will most likely fail but has the potential to be truly awesome if it doesn't

I can agree with you on satyricon but none of the others. Well, didn't really care for the last Emperor album either.

I didn't list these as I like/don't like what they do nowadays. Their current output has only a passing resemblance to what they did ten years ago.
I still like Ulver and they are the furthest away from what they did back in the day. The rest of them though, I couldn't give a shit about anymore sadly.

Yes but Nattens Madrigal is IMHO one of the cornerstones of raw Norse BM. Insane album. But then again they always did random things. Their recent stuff is more uniform, but still excellent yes.
