Hey guys,

does anyone of you have any information on the guitar-chain on The Haunted's "Versus". It's not sounding as "odd" to me as "Revolver" did, so I don't think they did this 5150-into-another-5150-thing again ... or did they and it just sounds different?

I'm especially interested in the cabs they used.

Cheers guys...

Ah, fuck it. I've just discovered the studio diary on youtube. They used Powerballs through an ENGL XXL and some Marshall 1960s with G12T-75s.

So, just to fuck around with my 5150 ... has anyone ever done really good impulses through G12T-75s? I mean, in the quality of GuitarHacks or Ryans awesometimes...

There was an impulse around here, some years ago...but I don't remember who made it.
Anyway I'm thinking to buy an used 1960 with g12t-75s...you can find one for about 300-350€

Honestly I hate the Marshall 4x12s in general, but even more if it has T75s haha. I guess I'm just a V30 kinda guy.

i love my 1960 4x12 lead. its the best dam cab i've ever played through.

its just right, moves plenty of air, not too bassy, shit loads of high end for cutting through the mix while keeping it smooth and a tight mid section. great tonalities out of the cab design and speakers.

i just wish it was a little bigger so my 6505+ could fit on it properly.

I feel the same way about my 1960 cab, including wishing my peavey fit on it a little better.

EDIT: Can someone post the youtube videos that are mentioned about the studio updates?

Noob question here... Can you describe the connections for the "5150-into-another-5150-thing"?

I'm pretty sure it was guitar into the input of the first 5150, then a cable from that 5150's FX send into the input of another 5150, then into a cab. Don't ask me why! o_O

It's like a boost...kinda like how people use SoloC to boost 8505, or vice-versa.

Exactly... They used the first 5150 to boost the second - they basically abused it as a TS-substitude :D. Someone posted a studio-picture of it here - but I can't find it at the moment.

Here are the videos:

I actually own a T75-cab (an old Laney-oversized - and MY PEAVEY FITS ON IT PERFECTLY :D). It's just not possible for me to just fiddle around with it. And I don't think I'm able to make some really good impulses, either :/

Well, I think, I found some - seems like Splat did some 1960-impulses a few years ago. Gotta give 'em a try.

I know what pic you are talking about, it's black&white right? It's the perfect pic showing how it's typically setup.

Yup - too bad I really don't dig the tone on Revolver at all! (especially compared to the awesomeness that is One Kill Wonder)

really?
imho revolver was their best as far as guitar sounds go. the bass also sits really well in that mix so that might contribute to the awesomeness :)
versus on the other hand doesn't do much for me, neither musically nor soundwise.
the dead eye had a pretty cool vibe....the guitars are slightly grainy imho, but otherwise it's a very lively mix, with great sounding drums, killer songs, and just a great mood overall....sort of like nevermore's dreaming neon black i think.

one kill wonder also had really cool songs, but geez, that album was killed in the mastering....actually i can't tell whether i like the guitars on that one, cause they're buried under a wall of mastering-induced fizz all the time...awful.

on a sidenote....damn, puk studios seem to be a REALLY nice place....check their website for the whole gear list, jesus christ...

Versus is extremely hi-fi to me, but after a while it grew on me. I really didn't like it at first, and some of the music still irks me, I even made a thread back when they first released a track or two for preview on their MySpace stating my disappointment. But most of the tracks are great, the production really is good to me, now haha, and Tue is definitely one of my favs out there. But honestly OKW had a lot more going for it, generally speaking.

Yeah, it was Marco Aro, but ugghh, are you saying you PREFER Dolving to Aro? :zombie: That's the whole reason I like OKW so much (and not any of their others!)
