This is one of my favorite albums of the year, and I gave up on this band after Revolver, which I thought was pretty mediocre. They needed this style change, because they were doing the same hardcore + swedmetal + Pantera thing for so long that it just got played out. However, I had no idea they had THIS in them. It sounds like Down or Corrosion of Conformity meets Tool. Really cool shit.

I think this is going to be one of those occasions where the open minded metal heads are gonna say "wow cool for The Haunted to branch out" and the conservative shit head thrashers are gonna say "wow what utter shite!" I fall neatly into the second category. Btw I'm not saying the album sucks cause I haven't heard it, all I'm saying is that it isn't Haunted debut album thrash so it automatically goes into the sucks pile from my conservative thrash shit head point of view. :)

I don't get how anyone could deal with the band practically doing the same song over and over again:

Wow, totally not what I expected. This album is going to take a while to digest before I decide if I like it or if it's complete shit.

Well The Haunted got plenty of flack when they changed their sound years ago, so they are used to that.

I kind of liked that song though...

I guess alot of people do. I got tired of it when Revolver came out. Once the All Against All video came out I was like "are you serious bros? Let's be reality here, this is the same fucking song." When The Dead Eye came out I kind of stopped following the band's stuff altogether. Really stoked on this new one though.

I must say I 'm diggin the new songs. The Dead Eye really left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Versus was kind of a step up from that, but I do like the direction thses guys are going in with this one.

I loved Revolver and pretty much everything up to it, but yea, Dead Eye was fucking horseshit.

And for that kind of metal, I kind of gave up on The Haunted a couple/few years ago (although they still put on a hell of a show), and went with the Norwegian band, Battered, who was formed from the ashes of Einherjer. Definitely in a completely different vein than their previous band though.

Not bad. Definitely reminds me of The Haunted's debut album (except less Pantera and more Demolition Hammer).
