The "HOLY FUCK MARYLAND DEATHFEST WAS SOOOOO AWESOME ARGHHHHHH" Thread

I totally get where drunk people are coming from with all the illogical bullshit and random crap; I'm like that without being drunk, like you said :p Couldn't have put it better myself. I don't even remember most of the random shit I said, maybe for the better(?).

I totally forgot to mention Alex...dude was cool, but yeah...man, the night when he passed out randomly in a chair in 901 and was in the EXACT. SAME. POSITION when we came back 3+ hours later...hilarious.

edit: Oh, just remembered a good one...Zeph's ability to seemingly teleport to the front of entire crowds of people without even a moment's notice. Several times I would be with people, turn around to where he was originally like 10 seconds ago, and he'd be in a totally different place, often very far away and really close to bands. I know Guy remembers one such instance where we were utterly confounded by this.

Rooming with people who party a fuckton more than you do provides some interesting experiences, especially when they come back at some ungodly hour and talk about some faggot generic grind fans talking about fingering baby buttholes and asking me questions about Seinfeld while I'm trying to sleep, which I answer anyway hoping they would shut the fuck up. For the record, I slept maybe 4 hours the entire weekend.

The majority of our hotel soundtrack consisted of tapes, primarily random obscure 80s thrash metal bands, but also, of course, Tales of Medusa, which doesn't actually exist. Waking up to Udo was kind of fucking creepy though.

I actually didn't buy shit there. In fact I sold a record. I'm so fucking awesome that I already have all the really cool shit anyway.

Other thoughts, let's see...

I didn't really intend to run into any GMD people, but I unfortunately had no choice because I had to drop my bag off in Ray's room since nobody in my room was there yet. I don't even remember who was there. I think I met Nick and Jeremy in the hallway. And the Texan kid, whatever his name is. I was told that he was offended/butthurt by my ridiculing of Texas and the Cowboys. I definitely used the word 'my pals' multiple times on multiple occasions.

Oh yeah, Sigh closing with Countess Bathory and Black Metal was great.

Oh yeah again, I got interviewed for some independent documentary on the fest when my friend and I stopped at the Superfresh.

Oh, and walking to the other side of the hotel to take a shower in another room because the shower in my room was filled with ice and beer.

I actually considered just taking a shower in the ice and beer.

Oh yeah, who was that guy in your room with the Order from Chaos shirt?

And for my final "oh yeah" (maybe), FUCK FUCKING SUNBURN. God damnit. The only downside to the outdoor stage.

That makes me rather glad I skipped most of the early bands to keep my sleep quota up. I got a tad baked, but nothing serious.

I was only at MDF for Friday, and the only bands I really watched in-depth were Mayhem and Asphyx. Mayhem was loud as fuck, and Asphyx were sloppy as hell, but in a good way. My MDF experience got really weird after Asphyx's set.

After Asphyx, I didn't really care about the bands inside, so I bought some CDs and shirts, and then went to my car to drop the items off. At my car I suddenly hear a girl yelling for help. The people parked next to me were just hanging out so they ran to checkout what was going on. The girl said some dude was trying to rape her, and then said guy emerges from a hole in the fence and starts to briskly walk/jog away. The people parked next to me start chasing him down (with a dog) and the guy starts runnign and swinging his arms to get the people off him.

Then I walked over to the hotel where most of you were staying to hang out for a bit and say goodbye, and on my way I see a guy getting beat up by 3 other dudes on the street. People from all over nearby converge on the beating, including a guy who had stopped me while walking to ask me what was going on at Sonar. He immediately stopped our conversation and ran to the fight. It was bizarre and surreal. The guy getting beat MAY have been the guy who tried to rape that girl.

Anyway, it was really cool to meet some of you.

Baltimore: The Greatest City in America

Deströyer 666 dedicated "Black City - Black Fire" to Baltimore. At least that's the rumor we started.

I'm pretty sure it was mostly positive. Something along the lines of you being a more intelligent / funnier version of mutantllama, and that you'd probably be cool to hang out with.

Yeah, it was mainly about people becoming generally much cooler when they go to college and have that experience under their belts to some degree (whether just having been in a dorm for a while or having had completed school)...we used you as an example :)
