Well, had the chance to crank up the crappy marshall this afternoon, and in a sort of in flames mood i thought i'd try and stick something together.
I think its my best guitar tone/mix so far in my 1st month of mixing and wouldnt mind seeing what you gurus think about how its done.

hehe, had a crack at sticking verb on the guitar tone and it sounded like swim. Been going mad for those guys recently, but yeh it doesnt actually sound like em haha.

The snare is a stratovarius one. I liked the verb on it so i kept it Altho i was swapping in and out for a dryer one!

Well, i havent heard a crappy marshall sound that decent for a long time man, nice tone!
Excelent work for one months worth of mixing!

Its a vs100 i got for £50 being run in solid state with my gt6 haha. (bypassing the preamp tube). Its no 5150
All mic'd with 2 x 57.

I personally like the VS100's, I've always managed to coax a reasonable tone out of them (more consistantly than the newer AVT range).

Holly shit......thats tons better than the AVT 100 i'm using. I didnt even notice that it was a SS amp....fuckin awsome. Though i guess it might be also that you're using the GT6, while im using a lesser ZOOM 707 II.

ah, it has to be said the zooms arnt too hot in my experience, when i got the gt6 it was a totally different sound- like a completly different quality to my digitech RP200. But then, i hear the sound of mesa and 5150 and again, im getting that feeling

Just incase you didnt like the super echoy stratovarius snare, ive replaced it with a pantera snare (this is all for cob haha). Which is best?

HAHA, i thought the Strat' snare could use more 400Hz, now i think the Pantera one has too much 400Hz...try mixing them, or just fix it in EQ ;p
