The new Zero Hour has surpassed Vanden Plas' Christ 0 as my favourite prog release of 2006.

Their set bored me to tears at this year's festival, but I'll check out their new studio effort regardless.
I'm a huge fan, but I definitely wasn't as into it as I would have been had I been familiar with the new material. There's so much going on, that it's tough if you don't have a reasonable familiarity with the music beforehand.

For anyone whose a fan of prog, you need to spend some time with this disc. It probably won't click after the first listen, and maybe not even after the third, but when it does, the reward is worth it.

Agreed 200%. Zod nailed it.

By the way, cheesedick, looking forward to see you at Katatonia in a few weeks!

Couldn't agree more, Zod...my CD of the year this year, too. I bought over 20 CDs at ProgPower, and I've barely listened to most of them...except the new ZH. :headbang:

I guess I'm going to have to give it some more time. Right now it's my 3rd-favorite ZH album (but I'm one of the apparent few who actually liked A Fragile Mind).

Part of my problem is I don't think the new vocals fit the music as well as the previous two singers. Chris Salinas certainly has talent I just don't think his singing style is well suited to ZH's music. And it kinda seems to me like the music suffered for trying to accomodate his singing (I find the slower passages in some of the songs particularly boring, and too frequent).

Chris' vocals were one of the things that took time to click. Now I love his vocal work.

Are you going to the Houston show on October 28th?

This band bores me period and yes their performance at Prog Power was hideous. Nuff said.
