The "In Memory" EP fucking rules

Matricide is still one of Nevermore's best songs, as is In Memory. Optimist Or Pessimist rips, The Sorrowed Man is a great song of profound despiar, and Silent Hedges is an excellent cover choice, fits Nevermore extremely well (OK, this is where I admit I haven't heard the original...haha)

I told you man! Everything Nevermore creates is perfection or close to it IMO. The chorus on In Memory is one of the best EVER

Except half of DHIADW. They should save these slow songs and divide them to future recordings, but i guess CM had to sell lotsa copies of that. Hence the promotion... Trapped is right about this one. I like it a lot, but sometimes it reminds me the direction (not the riffing, song structure, but the "being more comercial) that Metallica followed on their latest. I am not saying anything, I merely express my opin. so no attacks.

Dude, you just don't like most of DHIADW due to this supposed "selling out syndrome." DHIADW is just as "hooky" as their self titled release and in any event DHIADW didn't sell that well anyway! I don't have one problem with DHIADW...an excellent mix of heavy songs, mid tempo, and heavy ballads, inspired lyrics, and killer production. DHIADW isn't as complex as DNB, Politics, or In Memory, but when did that ever become the only criteria for good music? DHIADW is very much like the self titled release imo, so if you like that one I can't imagine you having complaints regarding DHIADW.

No-one said it was... But it is a part of the bigger picture. DHIADW is an album that Iced Earth could have released... They have become less 'nevermore' and become more of a typical 'power-metal-band'.

I don't mean technicality as in '13/7.5' time or anything, but music and instrument playing that is just as stimulating as the songwriting.

Sure, there is some good music on DHIADW, but it is SIMPLE. Nevermore have never been SIMPLE, not even on S/T or even in the sanctuary days.

It is a good album, but nevermore are capable of SO much more.

Listen to 42147, or No More Will... ANd then listen to Heart Collector.

DHIADW is a BRIGHT album as opposed to their previous albums, which are very brooding, and there is a number of different emotions and changes.

Hmmm... davey... I won't agree with you in this one... S/T has much more strength within it than DHIADW. And as a complete creation S/T isn't near as comercial as DH... and S/T is morelike Sanctuary-to-Nevermore transition, this one is morelike NVM-to-hmmm... transition. I am not implying that they sold out... I kinda like the album... It is just that I expect from NVM not to become Iced Earth...

I think the S/T is as hooky, if not more so, than DHIADW. Does that make it poor? I think not...but there are similarities, at least imo. DHIADW was not even close to being a commercial success, so I don't know where you are coming from with that comment. As for Iced Earth, the only album that sounds different than the rest is Dark Saga imo. Horror Show was well received, but that is because power metal has some sort of a fanbase to begin with. Plus Horror Show was hyped up for months prior to its release by various web Boards and news services. Nevermore's style is completely different. I can't see Nevermore's music ever truly being created merely to harvest the almighty dollar. They won't (and haven't) watered down their music imo. All of a sudden Nevermore can't write a heavy ballad like Believe in Nothing (which is one of their best songs imo) or they are considered to be selling out. I think people read into things too much. Nevermore has been doing odd ballads since the beginning as well...this all just didn't pop out of thin air for money's sake.

Once again, this album didn't sell that well anyhow...so they aren't progressing down IE's path (whatever path that may be). IE is a totally different animal. I like their music, and am a huge fan, but one would be a retard not to notice the constant recycling of riffs and tempo changes. DHIADW uses a similar riff pattern in some songs, but overall I don't get the feeling that it is pure rehash like IE.

Poison God... You are ignorant!

It doesn't matter wether it actually SOLD well or not. If Metallica's "Black" album didn't sell well, would it be considered less of a comercial attempt?

Same thing with Megadeth's risk...! So because it DIDN'T sell very good, does that mean that you think it is GREAT like Rust In Peace?

It's not about how much money they make... It's how much they compromise and change their style.

Progression is good... (take Death, Martyr, Atheist... for example!), but when a band's style is compromised on the idea that "Change is Good", it is a different thing.

Are you Deaf? Listen to Politics of ecstasy, and then DHIADW, which album showcases Nevermore's Songwriting AND Musical-talents?? POE!!
