this is the result of renting studio space, a little bit of boredom, and nothing to do on weeknights.

this is the first thing i have tracked/mixed in reaper. it's only revalver and s2.0, no mics, but i still got a great feel for editing/workflow, including the MIDI editor, and (coming from cubase) i fucking love it. I'm hoping to be 100% reaper from here on in.

all that aside, what could possibly be better than an 80's hair metal song reminiscent of a "top gun" action scene that ends in a cheeseball deathcore mosh-down?!

if we end up doing vocals, i'll follow up. it will undoubtedly be worth it.

Hey! Nice sound, very old school metal. Nice guitars clean and heavy. what patches you used? It would be nice if we also upload our guitar and drums presets.
take care, waiting for vocals.

default 6505 patch for revalver, i don't think i tweaked it at all, and in superior I tried out the preset uploaded by the guy from the swedish(?) band liquorworks whom frequents this forum. a very lazy mix indeed. bass was just a sansamp bass driver DI. again, i just wanted to do some editing in reaper and complete a first song. i was pleased =]

one of those cymbals is really standing out (in a bad way). It sounds like the heavy 21' ride being used as a crash. its too loud and out of place i think. Sweet 80's vibes though.

also worth mentioning that for the grossly overdone ending breakdown, instead of de-tuning (the whole song is in drop D) i just used ReaPitch and dropped the dry guitar signal down a few cents before it hits revalver. worked quite well. i think it might even be better than actually down-tuning since strings seem to have a bit more punch and harmonic tonality to them when they're being stretched tighter. anyone else ever done that?
