Anything before 95 is awesome but I can't say I'm crazy about anything after Ceremony of Opposites (1994). They started experimenting more with keyboards after that and many, including myself, feel they took a nose dive in musical quality. I'm not trying to start an argument here with anyone who thinks new Samael is good. It just really doesn't appeal to me.

edit: of course, when a band's been around 20 years, it's pretty unrealistic to not expect any drastic changes in sound.

I also think it would be pretty stupid to actually want any band to do that. You gotta change it up a little. There are not many bands that put out a real number of albums that all sound the same come to think of it. There are some, no doubt though.

I'm in agreement, although more times than not the music is never again as good as when the band were at the pinnacle of their "classic" sound. I'm sure there are exceptions, but they seem very few and far between.

I never got into Samael, but I've heard a bit of their stuff & it was pretty coo. I need to stop being a bitch & check them out.

Everything from Worship Him up through Eternal is excellent stuff, but be aware of the wide evolutionary span through those albums.

Start with Ceremony of Opposites. If you like the black metal aspect better than the industrial nuances, go backwards to Blood Ritual. If you're intrigued by the aforementioned fusion of genres, go forward to Passage.
