Haha, contrary to the uprising of hate for Transilvanian Hunger, I think it's extremely good, and extremely effective. Also my personal favourite from Darkthrone. Soulside Journey can't really be compared to their black metal albums, it's in a totally different league. Anyway, I agree, it's a brilliant release.

I disagree. I will say majority of Darkthrone fans would say a blaze in the nothern sky,under a funeral moon, or trans..kgsjflkgjslvania(I can't spell!) hunger are the best ones. I do like ablaze in the nothern sky, but anything after sounds pointless in a we try too hard type way and also lackluster. Old Immortal is really 'grim' but it's actually interesting and executed good. Not everything has to be pointless while sounding like a garage recording at the sametime. (waits for punches from darkthrone fans).

I don't find the post-Soulside Journey albums to be lackluster. I like Darkthrone for their minimalism. I don't think they are trying too hard. In fact, I don't even know how you would infer such a thing from listening to an album. Also, I like black metal more than death metal so just fuck off and stop harassing me. I don't want to argue about music with anyone.
