I'm not sure how popular these guys are with people on this forum , but I have to admit that I really like them quite a lot. Basically every other band in their genre is trash, but I've always felt like there's a maturity about the Jimmy Eat World sound that I really admire. "Futures" is a great album, as is "Bleed American" (re-released post-9/11 as self-titled).
Anyway, so far, their new one, "Chase This Light" is not as musically memorable overall as their previous two, but it was mixed by Chris-Lord Alge and mastered by Ted Jensen, so needless to say it's pretty huge sounding. The Lord-Alge drum sound is always incredible!
Anyone else heard it?

"Bleed American" is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine :D

Guitars on that thing sound huge.....if you can successfully get past the preppy-cheese lyrics.

this band are amazing, if you dont like them you're a fucking idiot. Thats not a matter of opinion; thats a matter of fact ;-)
i love the new album, i love all their albums

I really liked "Clarity", it was a bit more sprawling and less developed, I didnt particularly care for "Bleed American" it just seemed dumbed down, is "futures" more of the same ? I think the first two Weezer albums will own anything in the heart on sleeve / modern rock stuff category for though. I have to say every time I hear the intro to that new Jimmy Eat World song on the radio I get exited because I think its going to be that Face to Face song "I wont lie down"........

"Futures" is really great. It's a little slower overall than "Bleed American", it has more textures about it, and the songs just have a very big open feel about them. It's definitely more...experimental and dynamic than "Bleed American", I'm not sure how else to put it. Check it out!

My mate use to listen to these guys before I got him into metal. Would be interesting to hear them with the production. They weren't too bad from what I remember.

he cant listen to them anymore since he listens to metal?

He's a big power metal buff now. Not that he can't but he chooses not to because he gets more out of power metal (from what I've seen). He's got a great PM voice so he tends to leave alot of other music in the closet now haha. He doesn't listen to music for production/ variety like us.

Word.

They are a great live band as well and seem to be really cool guys.

On the new album the voice is kind of strange from time to time though. Sounds like a little of some strange Cher-effect sometimes...

Big Casino has a lot of "depth" too it mix-wise, really cool imo.

My favorite CLA mix is the current Rise Against and Billy Talent btw.
