the latest Aborym cd....

I'll check mine out tonight. What exactly are you hearing? I don't remember anything too strange . . .

Sometimes sounds like very small skips.. then there is one point where for a split second, it stops and then blasts, and it just doesn't sound natural.. I guess..

Regardless, I think the new album is way too overhyped. I like Fire Walk much better.

And to borrow a phrase from markgugs...

The new Cradle Of Filth absolutely owns the latest from Aborym.

I can understand how some of you older folk might like Cradle better than the new Aborym. The new Aborym is simply too much to handle for the old and frail. The innovation and amazinge use of BM and electronics is WAY ahead of anybody else in the genre. Cradle is much more traditional and down to earth with their music. I much prefer Aborym's wild masacre of everything traditional about metal and black metal.

As a side note, the guys in Aborym (especially Attila and Set) are some of the nicest and most appreciative guys I've ever corresponded with. Attila still sends me emails on a regular basis. He loves art and music, and it shows in what he does.

Whatever....................................................................

Sounding pretty elitist, eh?

I'm 28... didn't realize that was old. :zombie:

Like I said, I have all three, and I do find them to be pretty innovative, I just feel their vision wasn't fully realized on the latest, and the mastering fuckups don't help matters. They (whether it be band or label)shouldn't have released it for sale until it was perfect in every attainable sense of the word.

Damnation And a Day is like a movie score, and I hate to say it (actually I love to say it), but Sony's budget was really used to its best capabilities. And it felt so good to hear one of my best friends (who is incredibly fucking jaded) say he thought it was one of their best albums. The Maiden, death and black metal to be found, not to mention the beautiful orchestra and choir.... a breathtaking vision complete.

I like Aborym, but Dodheimsgard and countless others have already done "freaky for the sake of art farts" metal.....

And no amount of justification can be made for "Chernobyl Generation"..... Awful, awful, awful, godawful song......

My word! *Adds CD to shopping cart*

You are doing a review for this one right?

And Mark, I've got an extra copy of COF on the way from a marketing company I've worked with in the past, I'll hold it for you.

Oh my gosh, the favoritism on display here! I guess I'll just have to buy the fucker then...

Disclaimer: To be fair, PJ did send me The Haunted promo...shit, I guess I have to review that one....no way as good as 'Made Me Do It...... :)

Papa: Can you elaborate on the difference between Midian and Damnation? What exactly has changed or not changed? I'm kind of interested in the album, but I don't really listen to Cradle anymore.

Most importantly, Paul, the original guitarist from the 1st album that returned for Midian almost all of the guitarwork, which is much, much more prominent in the mix this time around, making it a lot heavier.

Also, Dani's voice is not constantly in the upper register shriek, witch howl that he often employs. There are more deep vocals, deathly and spoken, man just all around more metal than Midian.

I love Midian, but it was sooo textured and sooo layered that it came off too polished, whereas somehow this time they get it right. Which just goes to show those that thought Sony would equate to "sellout." I think there will be more exposure, but musically... no fucking way.

Hmmm . . . I might have to buy it. They should have it at Best Buy for less than The End has it for.

Yeah but Best Buy don't need your $$! And is that true anyway? I've not seen many places cheaper than The End.

The End is pricing it at $15.50. They don't have near the room to work when it comes from a major label. Best Buy has it for $14.99. So . . . I might actually buy it from The End. Unless Best Buy has it on sale this weekend.

Well ... I guess I will remind this album damn!
I got the Digipack version for me, np at all and I thought indeed it was a better album than the previous Aborym ..... I so did put some CD formats for sale in the DH list, and a guy pissed me telling there was a problem with this disk, I so pissed him back telling it was new and unplayed ..... now I get it.
