It is indeed a horrible thing that they do in Canada. Clubbing the seals in the head to death is just unacceptable. The annual seal hunt takes place because if they allow the seals to live in such great numbers then the fish that they buy all will be eaten... and the price for fish in Canada will rise. If they absolutely MUST do the seal hunt... then I think that they should definitely find a much more humane way in killing them. They don't even use a gun... they use clubs to bash their heads until they are dead. Some die instantly... but most do not. It is really bad.

clubbing the seals to death is unacceptable. there can be no justification for such brutal methods of killing seals in this day and age. The Canadian government should devise, and then implement, a more humane method of culling their numbers.

Things like this have been happening since the beginning of man. Humans kill animals for one reason or another... whether it is to eat, use for clothing, control the population, etc. Certain animals are raised for the sole purpose to die. I guess the seals can be glad that they weren't born as a cow, turkey, or a chicken. I definitely hate what the Canadiens are doing to the seals though. They should not kill these animals in such a gruesome manner. If they absolutely must kill some each year then they should definitely find a much more humane way to kill them.

yes, and we'd see it a lot differently if we were the ones being killed off. Of all the creatures in this world, we are the ones who tilt the balance rather than restore it

We are also tilting the balance in cutting down forests much more rapidly than they can grow back. And in changing the earth's atmospheric conditions. I watched a program on NASA that showed the change in greenland and the north pole over many years. This looks bad.

on the other hand I have no problem with the slaughter of animals grown for to be eaten, like chicken,cows and geese.
turning the whole planet vegetarian might save the farm animals from dying but it will harm the human health.We need meat to live, all meat substitutes like tofu are really bad for your health.

That's dubious. Why should one animal deserve to live and another deserve to die? Because seals look cuter than chickens or cows? The Canadiens are killing the seals to maintain their steady production of selling fish. If they allow all of the seals to live, then the seals will then eat the fish, which then effects the Canadien people in their fish production. It's all part of a chain reaction that would effect their economy. The price of fish would rise in Canada. Like I said... if they absolutely MUST kill some seals every year then I think they must find a much more humane way in killing them. I really wish the Canadiens wouldn't kill the seals at all and just take the hit in their production of fish. I hate seeing any animal being killed.

In a perfect world that would be true. I would never kill an animal intentionally. Unfortuently... humanity really wouldn't be able to exist without the control of the animal population in the world.
