The new Oceansize album is out today

Who (if anyone) are they comparable to? From what I read of reviews on Amazon, people have said they sound like how I would describe The Gathering (one of my favorites).

The Gathering? Nahh.. More something like dredg, old Biffy Clyro, Amplifier, Demians, The Mars Volta, Mew etc.

they are hard to label, in the same progressive spirit as those bands mentioned, but a lot darker than all of them imo.

listening right now, sounds stellar as fuck so far.

the best part about them for me is that they have complexity with writing HI LOOK I'M GOOD AT INSTRUMENTS type music. It all sounds very natural and part of the composition.

I love Oceansize. Effloresce and Frames are works of art. I haven't heard any of this album yet (I didn't click the vid because I kind of feel like waiting until I get the album), but I look forward to it heartily.

This probably secures their position as my fav band ever.

They sound great in the studio but live, i can't stand them.
They lack cohesion i.m.h.o. and they must be proud that Heron is such a steady drummer
because he is the one that keeps them together on stage.
For me, Oceansize live is a lotta show but no go.

Seen em live 5 times now (soon 6) and enjoyed every time very much. Vennart's stupid jokes make me chuckle every time. Live DVD (Feed to Feed) is amazing as well.
